Exciting Mega Events at Kai Tak Sports Park Propel, Over 20% Sales Growth at Kai Tak Mall in July

Date17 Aug 2025

(17 August 2025, Hong Kong) Situated within Kai Tak Sports Park (KTSP), Kai Tak Mall (the Mall) stands out as Hong Kong’s premier “sportainment” hub. Benefiting from a wave of mega events and the phased opening of diverse sports and leisure facilities at the Sports Park, the Mall has seen consistent growth in both footfall and sales. In July, sales surged by over 20% compared to KTSP’s opening in March, while the average daily footfall in Q2 increased by more than 10%. With the launch of brand-new outdoor sports facilities and the large-scale family-friendly playground, Playfield 5, alongside the upcoming 15th National Games and other international events, the Mall is set to maintain its strong popularity and exceptional performance in the second half of this year.

International Brands Flock to Kai Tak Mall
Leveraging the unique advantages of the Sports Park, Kai Tak Mall has rapidly emerged as a new landmark in Hong Kong, blending retail with sports culture. It has attracted several internationally renowned brands making their debut in the Hong Kong market, establishing their business presence at the Mall and showcasing its significant development potential. Among them is Hong Kong’s first Liverpool FC flagship store, which opened at the Mall in July, drawing crowds of devoted fans. Additionally, world-class snooker players Neil Robertson and Judd Trump launched the Hong Kong Billiard Sports Academy (HKBSA) at the Mall in August, aiming to create Hong Kong’s premier venue that combines professional training with public entertainment. With the upcoming World Grand Prix Snooker Tournament in Hong Kong in the coming years, the Academy is poised to become a pivotal hub for snooker, sparking a new wave of interest in the sport.

Nearly 90% Occupancy, Around 30% of Restaurants Fuel “Night Economy”
The occupancy rate of Kai Tak Mall has reached 90%. In addition to hosting international brands, the Mall boosts over 70 popular dining options. During mega events at the Sports Park, demand for nighttime dining and after-parties has surged, prompting nearly 30% of restaurants to extend their operating hours until midnight. This initiative supports Hong Kong’s “night economy”, offering visitors a vibrant, event-driven experience that underscores the Mall’s unique appeal. Numerous F&B brands have expanded their presence at the Mall, introducing new brands such as Gaia Group’s “Red House,” Tai Hing Group’s “Dumpling City”, “Asam Chicken Rice”, “Bashi Ramen” and “Sushiro”. These additions further enrich the dining and lifestyle options, enhancing the overall allure of KTSP.

Playfield 5 and Outdoor Sports Facilities Drive Traffic
As Hong Kong’s largest integrated sports and entertainment hub, KTSP is dedicated to family-friendly fun. The newly opened Playfield 5, spanning over 4,300 square meters and themed around the traditional Chinese five elements, has rapidly become a hotspot for parents and kids. Since its launch in August, weekend footfall at the Mall soared to levels comparable to Golden Week and Easter holidays, even matching the excitement of an Arsenal vs Tottenham match day. This impressive surge has significantly boosted overall visitor traffic and spending. In addition, the new JUST CLIMB Climbing Gym on Kai Tak Sports Avenue, featuring Hong Kong’s first covered multi-wall climbing facility, has begun trial operations on 16 August. Alongside other newly opened outdoor sports facilities, it injects fresh energy into the Sports Park and fosters stronger community engagement.

Looking ahead, KTSP is set to host an exciting lineup of mega events. The bowling finals of the 15th National Games mass participation event, organized by Hong Kong, will take place at the Bowling Centre within the Mall between 22 and 24 August. It is the largest bowling facility in Kowloon with 40 world-class lanes. Upcoming highlights include the MAMA Awards, the 15th National Games, the 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities and the 9th National Special Olympic Games, among other international events. These occasions are expected to draw even more visitors and significantly boost Hong Kong’s mega event economy.
