Grand Opening of Kai Tak Sports Park: Unveiling a New Chapter in Hong Kong's Sports, Culture, and Entertainment Future
(25 February 2025, Hong Kong) The highly anticipated grand opening of Kai Tak Sports Park (KTSP) is set to take place on March 1 at 6:30pm! Hosted by Mr. John LEE, the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administration Region, the evening will commence with a simple yet grand opening ceremony, followed by a spectacular lineup of performances featuring a diverse array of elite athletes, cultural icons, and celebrities from the entertainment industry.
The event is designed around four captivating themes showcasing the exceptional talent in sports and entertainment across age groups and generations, from both Hong Kong and the Mainland, sparing no effort to deliver dazzling performances to commemorate the birth of Hong Kong’s home venue!
The grand opening ceremony will be broadcast via four free-to-air television channels and their online platforms, including RTHK TV 32, HOY TV, TVB Jade, and ViuTV 99, starting at 9:30pm through which members of the general public can share and enjoy this joyful and historic moment!
Countdown Light Show
In celebration of the opening of Hong Kong’s home venue, a spectacular countdown LED light show will illuminate the exterior of Kai Tak Stadium from 26 to 28 February, 7:30pm to 10:00pm each night.
Exciting Opening Month Events
An exciting line up of events will be presented from March, to mark the official opening of Kai Tak Sports Park, supporting the promotion of sports and cultural development in Hong Kong. These include:
- March 4-9: World Snooker Grand Prix 2025
- March 16: Kai Tak Sports Initiative – Kai Tak Run
- March 28-30: Cathay Pacific/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens 2025
In the following months, a variety of mega events, including major sports and music events, as well as test matches for the National Games will be held in the precinct. In November, the 15th National Games will feature competitions for the first time in Hong Kong, with four taking place at Kai Tak Sports Park.
