(1 March 2025, Hong Kong) The entire city celebrates the official opening of Hong Kong’s Home Venue — Kai Tak Sports Park (KTSP)! On this landmark day, a diverse array of local and Mainland sports, cultural and performing arts elites of all ages and generations, together with celebrities from film, television and music, delivered spectacular performances to celebrate the grand opening of KTSP, creating a memorable experience for all to enjoy!

The performances centered around four main themes, commencing with energetic drumbeats and dynamic dances, followed by dragon and lion dances entering Kai Tak Stadium from all directions. This vibrant display reflected Hong Kong's rich legacy and the spirit of perpetual growth, accompanied by uplifting songs that showcase the city’s limitless vitality. Additionally, the performance marking the groundbreaking debut of "Hong Hong’s Home Venue", promoting a diverse array of sports and entertainment events in Hong Kong, making Kai Tak shine brightly.

Next, celebrities and athletes from Hong Kong and Mainland China combined sports and music, themed around struggle and dreams, featuring a spectacular showdown between international martial arts stars and Olympic champions, complemented by performances by emerging singers, inspiring everyone to raise the game!

A gathering of multi-generational local and mainland entertainers and athletes, including legendary champions, and current Mainland and Hong Kong team elites showcased the national sports of China including badminton and table tennis, showcasing high-level sporting achievements to the world. This event highlighting the historic sporting excellence integrating with future achievements to create a bright, new chapter that belongs to us!

Excitement built up with each themed segment of performances, culminating in a grand finale choral performance stirring emotions and a sense of pride in Hong Kong’s newest chapter in sports and entertainment excellence, celebrating the "Pearl of the Orient" and highlighted Kai Tak Sports Park's commitment to creating endless possibilities for Hong Kong’s the future in partnership with all sectors!

John Sharkey, CEO of Kai Tak Sports Park, stated, "With the completion and opening of Kai Tak Sports Park, Hong Kong is now better positioned to actively attract large-scale international events, drawing more visitors and investments, and injecting new vitality into the development of the sports and performing arts culture industries. In addition to the thrilling performances inside the venue, a dynamic LED light show illuminated the exterior walls of Kai Tak Stadium, featuring themes that mirrored the performances and displayed various patterns, enhanced by colorful fireworks. Visible from both sides of Victoria Harbour, this exterior light show provided a dazzling celebration of the opening of Kai Tak Sports Park for all to enjoy!

Exciting Opening Month Events
The Grand Opening of KTSP also marks the beginning of “Hong Kong Super March”, with a series of exciting events scheduled throughout the “Opening Month” at Kai Tak Sports Park, further solidifying Hong Kong's position as "Asia’s Events Capital". Events will include:

March 4-9 World Snooker Grand Prix 2025
March 16 Kai Tak Sports Initiative – Kai Tak Run
March 28-30 Cathay Pacific/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens 2025

In the following months, a variety of major sports and music events, as well as test matches for the National Games will be held in the park. In November, the 15th National Games will feature competitions for the first time in Hong Kong, with four events taking place at Kai Tak Sports Park. The 12th National Disabled Persons' Games and the 9th Special Olympics National Games (Special Olympics) will also have an event held at the Sports Park. We will spare no effort to ensure the successful staging of the event.
